Frequently Asked Questions

Constanta is approximately 225 kilometres from Bucharest — about 2 to 2.5 hours by private car via the A2 motorway, known as the Sun Highway. The drive itself is part of the experience, crossing the scenic hills of the Dobrogea region and bridges over the Danube. Your guide uses the journey time to introduce the history of the Black Sea coast before you arrive.

Constanta — ancient Tomis — was founded by Greek colonists around the 7th century BC and later became one of the most important Roman port cities on the Black Sea. The tour includes the Museum of Archaeology, the extraordinary Roman Edifice with Mosaic — one of the largest Roman mosaic floors in Europe — the historic Casino, the Boardwalk and Marina Bay, and the city’s historical centre with its layers of Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman heritage.

Yes — the tour includes free time at Mamaia Beach, one of Romania’s most popular Black Sea resorts. You will have time to relax on the sand, enjoy the sea breeze and take a swim before heading back to Bucharest. Don’t forget your sunglasses, swimsuit and sunscreen! The combination of ancient history in the morning and beach relaxation in the afternoon makes this one of our most popular full day trips.

Entrance tickets are not included and are paid separately on the day. Your guide handles all logistics so you spend your time experiencing the city rather than queuing. Meals and personal expenses are not included either — there will be time to enjoy Constanta’s Mediterranean-influenced cuisine at one of the seafront restaurants during the tour.

The tour runs year-round, but the most popular window is May through September when the weather is warm and the Black Sea coast is at its most inviting. Summer visits (July-August) are particularly refreshing as an escape from Bucharest’s heat — the sea breeze and cooler coastal temperatures make it an ideal day trip. Spring and early autumn offer milder temperatures with fewer crowds. The archaeological sites and historical centre are fully enjoyable in any season.
